Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement
The vision for the new Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA) is to place “students at the centre of the educational experience, enabling them to actively participate in their communities and in society and to be resourceful and confident learners in all aspects and stages of their lives” (Framework for Junior Cycle, 2015).
Our Transition Year students are our first cohort of students to receive their Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA). The report captures the broad range of learning experienced by our students. The new Junior Cycle provides a wide choice of learning experiences in the curriculum and facilitates the development of 8 Key Skills and 24 Statements of Learning. The JCPA includes the results of the written state exams and for the first time other areas of achievement will be included. Our current Transition Year students achieved other areas of learning in basketball, project work, Savour Kilkenny, fund-raising and information technology. Students will receive their new certificate in the coming week. As well as the certificate stating their results from the state exams it will also contain the results of the classroom based assessment for English. The new junior cycle is being phased in up until 2020, by then all the CBA’s will be reported on.
