SUAS is a specialised educational placement which may be deemed appropriate for students with autistic spectrum disorders. This class will support students with the many challenges they may face during the course of the school day. Including:

  • Social Interaction
  • Communication
  • Organisational Skills
  • Behaviour

The level of integration for each student is determined by a detailed assessment of the student’s abilities and challenges. In consultation with NCSE, Psychological reports, Parents and Primary School Teacher.

The team will comprise of:

  • Co-ordinator
  • Class Teacher Special Needs Assistant
  • The Principal, Home School Liaison Officer and Learning Support Dept. may also be involved in this team. The SUAS co-ordinator is responsible for the managing and organising of teaching and supports, under the direction of the Principal and Board of Management and Kilkenny & Carlow ETB.
